Uptown street art update

by Dustin Nelson, Minneapolis Street Art Observer • July 6, 2008 •

You’ve been warned. (Click here to enlarge.)
This is a fantastic stencil. (Click here to enlarge.)
Arts Orbit is a multisource blog about the local arts scene, featuring both original contributions by Daily Planet writers and entries reprinted from partner blogs and online publications.
This sticker is like a fine wine, it got better with age. (Click here to enlarge.)
I feel like this sticker must be a logo for something, but I have no idea what (let me know if you know). But this is somewhat sad, I found this on a gas pump at the SA on Lyndale and 22nd, but fuck it. I thought it was well placed, and I like it. (Click here to enlarge.)
I wonder if this was done by the owner of the garage. A lot of passion here. (ho) (Click here to enlarge.)

So, these have been around forever, and there are a ton of them along 94, but I’ve always really enjoyed these paint spills down the barriers along 94 in Minneapolis. So, instead of putting out the effort and taking “good” photos of these I took a picture out of a moving car… (Click here to enlarge.)

So this isn’t really street art, or maybe it is, but I didn’t actually touch this, I found this little fella sitting outside my front door one morning. (Click here to enlarge.)
Till next time. (Click here to enlarge.)

News you can use

Choose your school

Saturday is School Choice Day in both Minneapolis and St. Paul. If you’re the parent of a student, you have the opportunity to send your child to either the public school in your neighborhood or a magnet school. You also have the opportunity to send your child to a charter or a private school. Both school districts, and metro-area charter schools, are planning one-stop information fairs where, they say, you can find out all you need to know about schools where you might want to send your child. Weekend What's What 1/8-1/11: Hunt and gather

Way to bounce back! The Twin Cities seem to have easily shaken off their holiday lethargy just in time for a pretty rockin’ weekend. Art exhibits, which have been on holiday hiatus as of late, are back in full effect; while rock shows and dance parties continue to ignite flames all over town. Our suggestion? Go out on the prowl! Meet some new people, see some new sights, and experience some fresh excitement. It is 2009 after all (an excuse we’ll be using throughout January, if not February). MORE »
