Theater note: Sherlock Holmes on the prowl in Pig's Eye
Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure opened recently at St. Paul’s Park Square Theatre, as the final show of Park Square’s 2007-8 season. Anyone who appreciates a good mystery is likely to have an enjoyable evening attending this performance. The play, an area premiere, is adapted by Steven Dietz from the 1899 play by Arthur Conan Doyle and William Gillette. The play also incorporates elements of Conan Doyle’s books A Scandal in Bohemia and The Final Problem. MORE »

Music note: Witches and nymphs on Rice Park
The Minnesota Opera ended its season April 20 with Antonin Dvorak’s Rusalka. The opera tells the story of a water nymph who longs to be mortal and pursue her love of the prince who swims the lake. Despite warnings to the contrary, Rusalka turns to the witch Jezibaba to turn human, becoming mute along the way. What Rusalka does not expect is the loneliness she experiences in the mortal world as the prince betrays her love, and she soon returns to the lake. In the end, the prince revisits the lake to find his lost love, but upon a single embrace, he dies in her arms. MORE »
Park Square Theatre brings acclaimed play "Frozen" to St. Paul
Bryony Lavery’s Frozen, a 2004 Tony Award nominee for best play, opens this week at Park Square Theatre in St. Paul.
